How the date is worked out
- The default due date is 180 days after the fiscal year ends (65 ILCS 5/11-74.4-5(d) and the Comptroller's FY2026 TIF upload instructions).
- Per those instructions, if the audit becomes available to the municipality after the 180-day date, the due date is the day it became available. A joint review board meeting after the 180-day date can also set the date.
- The preliminary questions in the Comptroller's portal (audit date, joint review board, whether the district has terminated) are tied to the default date. The instructions say leaving them unanswered by then makes the report delinquent. Check the instructions for how this applies if your audit is late.
- The portal shows the date the Comptroller will hold you to. Treat this page as a planning aid and check the portal.

Track it for every district
TIF Nexus keeps each district's due date, runs the checks the Comptroller's template expects against your own records, and assembles the report and attachment packet for your review. Your municipality still files it. TIF Nexus does not file for you.
